What is Reiki?
Reiki is a form of hands on healing with its origins in India and the
East dating back many thousands of years. The original name, disciplines
and techniques of Reiki were lost due to the traditional method of passive
knowledge from generation to generation by word of mouth. It’s hard
to determine when exactly this ancient art of healing disappeared. But
we do know that it was rediscovered by a Japanese scholar Dr Mikao Usui,
who also fashioned the name Reiki.
The
word REIKI is made up of two Japanese syllables from their alphabet. REI
describes the universal, boundless, limitless nature of energy, while
KI describes the vital life force. It is the power or energy, itself.
Therefore the meaning of the word Reiki can be interpreted as Universal
Life Force Energy. It is healing energy that is available all around us.
And this energy is found in all living things and is used for growth and
healing.
REI is present everywhere at the same time. Esoterically it means universal,
spiritual consciousness, the omnipresent wisdom of God, the Source, Great
Spirit, and it also refers to the soul.
KI means the vital life force, the non-physical energy that gives life
to all forms of all things. Ki flows through all living things. It has
much the same meaning as Chi in Chinese or Prana in Sanskrit. And this
Ki energy can be activated for the purpose of healing. When you feel healthy
and full of life and enthusiasm, the flow of Ki in your body is high.
But when you’re feeling low and run-down maybe because you are tired,
unhappy, or depressed, you are more prone to illness and dis-ease. Ki
is the essence of the soul and leaves the body when you die.
Reiki
is the highest and most profound vibration of life. It is divine and by
using this energy we are also becoming one with all things alive. It is
an extremely powerful healing energy. And it is one of the few forms of
healing that can be used to heal oneself.
Reiki is pure unconditional love and joy bringing all who experience and
embrace it’s principles, together in harmony. Reiki is not a religion.
It is free from all rules, creeds, doctrines, dogma or contradictions
to the universal laws of consciousness and love, and is open to everyone.
No matter what point a person may be at in their life, Reiki will harmonise
and embrace their philosophical view. Reiki will never force its way into
your mind, body or spirit. The recipient can only draw it in. But regular
contact with Reiki will bring your aspects into balance, and help prevent
future disease and illness. Reiki is a holistic therapy because it works
on our body, mind, emotions and spirit by stimulating our own natural
healing abilities. The blocked physical, mental and emotional elements
that lead to illness are cleared. Reiki energy is whole, not dual. Therefore
it is neither positive nor negative. It just is. It’s what we choose
to do with it that matters.
Reiki is balance, harmony, empowerment and love
Balance
is born out of harmony within and outside of us. And this will lead to
a state of wellbeing and health.
Through balance and harmony empowerment is born. You become a person who
is aware of their needs, wants and desires physically, emotionally, mentally,
sexually and spiritually. You are responsible for and can take control
of the direction of your life. No more being a victim.
Love comes from opening the heart chakra, so you can give, receive and
express unconditional love.
Reiki
is energy.
ENERGY
Universal energy surrounds everything - animate and inanimate, it is everywhere.
Everything has energy, or to put it another way, everything is made up
of energy. All energy has a vibration. The lower the vibration, the denser
the energy. For instance tissue has a higher vibrational rate than the
bone, and a purple colour has a higher vibrational rate than red and so
on. Universal energy/Ki/Chi/Prana or whatever you wish to call it is life
supporting, and without it there would be no life.
